Leave a comment » Don't Forget to Pay Your Property Taxes....It doesn't mater if you love it or hate it (probably choice 2) it's time to pay the property tax on your Palm Beach real estate. Many mortgage holders pay a portion of their taxes with each month's home loan payment - it's referred to as 'escrowing'. The money accumulates until it becomes due the beginning of November, then the lender automatically pays the State for you - but it doesn't hurt to double check! However some people, myself included, prefer to pay their taxes in full when due as opposed to paying month by month. The idea is that even though there will be a small fee to not escrow, you will more then make up the difference by investing the money or at least putting it into an interest bearing account. The only hitch is that you must make sure to have the money when it is due and you need to pay on time! By paying in November, you actually pay the lowest amount - as each month goes by, the amount you owe would increase. So that brings us to today November 29th - if you have not paid yet there is only 1 day left. I talked to the Tax Collector's office this morning and they assured me that it is the postmark on the mail that determines when the bill was paid - so even if it's marked 11/30, you're still OK. If you want to check that with them just call 561-355-2266. Or if you'd really like to make sure it's received on time you can go to their North County Branch Office at 3188 PGA Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens and drop off a check. For other locations go to www.TaxCollectorPBC.com And next year..... don't wait until the last minute!
