Leave a comment » Palm Beach Gardens Real Estate News - The Post's Latest Negative Story Part 2In yesterday's post, I started to discuss our local newspaper's latest misguided front-page real estate story. It basically claimed that the new tax cut proposal - a 25% reduction in property tax with a 1% increase in sales tax - was skewed towards helping the more well-off property owner. I've talked to quite a few people since I originally saw that story and the overwhelming majority of them thought that this was a plan that would help ALL property owners. To me it's all very simple - you make a large cut in property taxes, you make home ownership cheaper, easier and more attractive. More people purchase homes in Florida and as a result the economy gets a boost. The real estate market in Florida is not in great shape - it is nowhere near as bad as the media would like people to think it is, but anything that will improve things is to be welcomed. I think that the psychological effect of a drop in taxes would be extremely positive. Please let's not turn this into Liberal vs Conservative, Democrat vs Republican - we already foul up enough issues with that garbage! The way I see it, this plan would be a major plus. Now, before anyone thinks that I'm only for this because I'm an Agent, think of it this way: before I got into real estate I owned property in Palm Beach Gardens, I still own it and after I retire I will still be a property owner here. I want my tax bill to go down. If you own real estate in Palm Beach and you don't want your tax bill reduced, email me and let me know why.
